Thursday 13th October

View from balcony - the clouds are coming!
Thursday is bowls morning so off we went bright and early in warm sunshine but a few clouds.  Lillian managed to play as well. Her foot is slowly getting better although she still hobbles quite a bit, but without too much grimacing!

Lillian and I were drawn in teams to play each other  on the first game which my team (Red) one easily thanks to the excellent bowling by a man called Ian.  So victory in my first game as 'Skip' - not that i did anything except stand at the other end chatting to the other Skip, also called Chris who has heart problems too.  We exchange denotes throughout the game until it was our time to bowl.

It was an enjoyable morning although my winning streak came to the end in our second match when my team was soundly thrashed 13-4 to which I contributed diddly squat.  I thought I had cracked this game but was really very poor with nothing even close to a point.

Back home another contractor called - this time for the bathroom cloakroom where Lillian wants to change the sink.  This was the carpenter who will build in the cupboard.  So now we need to go and buy a new sink!

Lazy afternoon, with a gradual build up of clouds throughout.  I managed a swim which was very brave as the water temperature in the pool has now dropped to 23C.  Lillian sat on the side holding the thermometer in the water.  Don't know how long I will be able to manage this ...... it sure did feel cold.

An early evening visit to the pub for a drink and a chat with a couple of locals was a good way to end the day before eating at home.  I spent a lot of the time on the phone to my WCL boss who is in Boston.  I am pleased to be out of this full time.  Lots of politics.
